This is 11:40 pm, 12/9/2008. At Hilton Osaka, I am writing a sort of diary. Na Young is sleeping in side of me.
At last, in 3:30 pm today, I had finished GRE General Test. Fortunately I got the stable scores on both of Verbal and Quantitative.
First, I thank to God and my wife. My wife, Na Young, had to sacrifice so many things (leisure in holiday, time with her families and friends, happy supper with me...) to support my study for GRE. Also, I thank the sincere help of my parents and my parents in law. For two whole months when I have poured all of my energy into the study for GRE, they had always understood my remiss to themselves. (For two months, I have done almost nothing but preparing GRE Verbal and Writing.)
Before taking the exam, I almost felt fearful about the possible bad result of the test since it is known to be crucial when deciding how much financial support would be offered by the graduate admission committee in the university that I'll apply. (In fact, I had registered GRE General PBT Test scheduled in 25/10/2008 preparing the case in which CBT score would be bad. I canceled it very after finishing CBT although it refunded only half of original prices $195.) Even during the Verbal test, since I came to notice that the test set had been changed, I knew I could not rely on the Hoogi. So, I was worried about my Verbal score. Now, I relieved. Although writing score is not available, I expect that it will be not one among the worst scores.
Then, the only remaining test for applying is GRE Subject Test (Physics) which I will take on 18/10/2008. I will make me ready for this test since next Monday. This weekend should be used for my families. In addition, I should start writing SOP (statement of purpose).
Finishing (or graduating from as it is said wittily by Korean GRE General Test Takers) GRE General Test means a lot to me. Since almost friends taking the Test before I take said "GRE Verbal Test would be hardest among many required events for application."
In my opinion, GRE Verbal problems seem very good to learn English. It helps us not only to learn untold English words, but to understand the logical structure hidden in the relation between words and in English sentence. During the GRE Verbal study, I had come to know that the relation between words and the sentence structure of English is so logical that it can be compared to the programming language.
Anyhow, I graduated from the GRE General Test. Good Bye! The hell of English enigma!
